Report: France launches 10-billion euro tender for wind turbines

AFP reports here at Yahoo News: SAINT-NAZAIRE, France – President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday France was seeking bidders for a 10-billion euro (13.6 billion dollar) contract to build the country’s first offshore wind-power facilities.

Wind Turbines Create Artificial Reef

Spiegel Online reports here: A slew of non-native marine species have made their home on the Alpha Ventus wind turbines off the German coast in the North Sea. Scientists say the oysters and crabs, among others, have not affected the structures.

Sweden to build 2,000 new wind turbines: minister

AFP reports here at Yahoo News: STOCKHOLM – Sweden will build 2,000 new wind turbines over the next decade as part of a bid to dramatically increase its production of renewable energy, Enterprise and Energy Minister Maud Olofsson said Tuesday.
