BBC News reports here: Ice floating on the Arctic Ocean melted unusually quickly this year, but did not shrink down to the record minimum area seen in 2007, say US scientists.

CNN reports here: New data released Thursday suggests that the Arctic Ocean will be “largely ice free” during summer within a decade. The report, complied by the UK-based Catlin Arctic Survey and the World Wildlife Fund predicts that within 20 years ice cover will be completely gone during the warmer months.
